Leadership and Personality AssessmentsEffective leaders have “mastery of self” – the understanding of how their personal make-up affects their leadership.

Fanning Institute faculty are certified to administer and facilitate the following leadership, social and communication styles assessments. Contact public service associate Brendan Leahy, Ed.D. to determine the best tools for your organization or to create a customized plan.

Emergenetics®

Emergenetics® is rooted in the concept that who you are today is the direct result of your behavior, genetic makeup and life experiences. This assessment provides a clear way to understand this intersection of nature and nurture through an Emergenetics® profile, built on four thinking attributes and three behavioral attributes that every person exhibits.

BEST Instruments

Based on social style literature, BEST Instruments are a series of learning instruments designed to help employees understand and improve their performance/behavior in leadership, management, communication, presentation, sales, interpersonal relations, team interaction, and other areas vital to a company’s overall performance.

Communication Style Survey (CSS)

The communication style survey is rooted deeply in social style literature. This assessment helps participants to view communication style through one of four lenses – intuitor, thinker, feeler, sensor.

DiSC®

DiSC® is a behavior assessment tool based on the DISC theory of psychologist William Moulton Marston, which centers on four different behavioral traits: dominance, inducement, submission, and compliance. The DiSC® model provides a common language that people can use to better understand themselves and adapt their behaviors with others – within a work team, a sales relationship, a leadership position, or other relationships.

FIRO-B

The FIRO-B (Fundamental Interpersonal Relations Orientation – Behavior™) instrument is used to uncover how personal needs affect behavior towards others. The assessment shows compatibility with other people, as well as your individual characteristics. For more information, click here.

Keirsey Temperament Sorter® (KTS®-II)

The Keirsey Temperament Sorter®-II – a 70 question personality instrument to help individuals discover their personality type – is based on Keirsey Temperament Theory™. According to this theory, there are four basic temperament groups which describe human behavior. Keirsey’s four temperaments are referred to as Artisans™, Guardians™, Rationals™ and Idealists™.

Leadership Practices Inventory® (LPI®)

Leadership Practices Inventory® (LPI®) is based on The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership® model. The assessments and facilitator materials clarify both the effectiveness of leaders and the level of commitment, engagement, and satisfaction of those that follow. LPI 360 and LPI SELF options are available.

Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®)

The Myers–Briggs Type Indicator® is an introspective, self-report questionnaire designed to indicate psychological preferences in how people perceive the world and make decisions. This personality inventory – based on the theory of psychological types described by C. G. Jung – sorts for preferences and does not measure trait, ability, or character. For more information, click here.

Q-Perspectives®

Q-Perspectives® is a flexible and versatile tool used to explore participants’ subjective understanding of leadership. Face-to-face sessions are paired with our real-time analysis software to identify like-minded teams within groups and engage in rich discussion. Fanning faculty can lead groups to uncover their individual and collective leadership perspectives or train your facilitators to do so.

Real Colors®

Real Colors® is a four-color personality assessment and workshop to help people learn to work together, breaking down organizational silos and increasing productivity. The assessment is based on the premise that you can take left-brain (linear) information, and turn it into an interactive right-brain experience. The right brain style uses colors, pictures, and interactive activities to engage participants. It allows participants to learn a great deal of information more quickly. Real Colors® is also available in a youth version.

Risk Propensity Survey Instrument

Our Risk Propensity Survey Instrument measures how receptive individuals, communities and/or organizations are to taking risks, either in general or in specific situations. This information can help people, organizations or communities understand their willingness to take risks with new things, which can inform the visioning or planning process for a community or organization.
