Georgia Possible is a two-year leadership and college readiness experiential learning program offered through a partnership with the University of Georgia, the Fanning Institute, the Clarke County School District and community organizations across Athens-Clarke County. The program expands access to leadership development, postsecondary exposure, and career exploration for high school students. It operates entirely through philanthropic support, ensuring all students can participate at no cost.
Designed for students to begin in the 10th grade, each cohort includes up to 40 students. These cohorts meet 10 times per academic year.
Sessions are facilitated by Fanning Institute faculty and staff in collaboration with high school guidance counselors.
Curriculum Focus:
• Communication & Leadership: Stress management and goal setting
• Awareness: Exposure to college, careers, financial literacy and internships
• Skill Development: Public speaking and relationship-building
These experiences help students build confidence and strengthen their readiness for life beyond high school.
Impact
• 92 CCSD students served since launch
• Current cohort: 26 sophomores from Clarke Central and Cedar Shoals High Schools
• Multi-year pipeline model building confidence, college readiness, and leadership identity
