H. Woods Bowman Fellowship
Dr. H. Woods Bowman was a regular and renowned faculty instructor in ELPNO, teaching our unit in nonprofit financial management and contributing vitally to our discussions of nonprofit governance and ethics.
He was a very special part of our program, a man who mobilized his unique combination of academic excellence and research, and real world experience as a nonprofit executive and public official, to enlighten all of us to the subtleties and practicalities of responsible financial management of nonprofit organizations. Graduates of ELPNO will benefit from his wisdom for years to come. Dr. Bowman tragically lost his life in an automobile accident in summer 2015.
To honor Dr. Bowman’s legacy, a fellowship has been established in his name. Each year 1 fellowship in the amount of $500 will be awarded to an outstanding candidate who meets the following criteria:
- Advocates for the nonprofit sector (as well as his/her own organization and/or field).
- Applies research and best practices in their work.
- Demonstrates a clear commitment to ethical practice
- Is committed to lifelong learning and professional development.
- Meets ELPNO criteria for admission.
