Boys & Girls Club Gear Up for the Future, 2008

   

Abstract

Over 280 8th-11th graders participated in this year's Boys & Girls Club Gear Up for the Future program at UGA.  Gear Up for the Future provides Boys & Girls Club members a chance to experience college life for a few days. The Fanning Institute helped coordinate logistics for the events.  

The Fanning Institute, along with the Governor's Office of Workforce Development, also conducted a session introducing the Work Ready Certificate tests.  Students were divided into teams to tackle 36 questions testing 3 levels of skills, with the winning teams receiving Ipod Shuffles.
