Navy School Local Redevelopment Authority

Abstract

The Navy School Local Redevelopment Authority concluded over two years of work with the filing of the Final Reuse Plan with the Department of the Navy and the Homeless Process Summary with HUD. The Final Reuse Plan contemplates an educational conveyance of the fifty-eight acre Navy School site to the University of Georgia for a health services campus, including a medical school. The Plan also requires the ultimate user of the property to provide $7.9 million to a coalition of five Athens area homeless providers. This money will fund a one-stop facility which will co-locate all the providers and substantially improve the delivery of services. Courtney Tobin is vice chair of the LRA.
