Biography
Leadership Specialist; Public Service Associate
Kimberly Anderson joined the University of Georgia's faculty in 2002 as a Youth Leadership Program Specialist. Her role was to coordinate resources and build capacity for creating and sustaining premier youth leadership development programs throughout Georgia. In 2005, Kim assumed her current role with the management and leadership responsibilities for LEAD21, an executive leadership program for land-grant college faculty around the nation.
Prior to joining the University of Georgia faculty, Kim gained experience in youth development through 15 years of service in agricultural education. Her roles as a classroom teacher, state FFA director, and personal development trainer provided her with opportunities to work directly with youth in their personal, leadership and career development. Her belief in youth development is one of her most significant credentials. She believes that the success of any sustained effort with youth development requires youth, volunteers, teachers, and state/national staff working collaboratively to meet the needs of an ever-changing clientele base.
Kim earned her undergraduate degree in Agricultural Education from Iowa State University. While working on her master's degree in Extension Education at the University of Georgia, Kim completed research on the motivational needs of middle grade Agricultural Education students. She earned her Ph.D. in Adult Education through the University of Georgia with research focusing on the empowering practices of FFA advisors.
