Biography
Jessica Garris Miller is a Public Service faculty member at the Fanning Institute. Her major responsibilities have included managing Community Leadership Association (CLA) regional workshops and annual conference seminars, collaborating with Fanning Institute faculty and staff to identify current methods of program evaluation and assessment to improve measurable impact of training and technical assistance provided for clients, and conducting research and writing reports on best practices to support development of leadership programs for adult and youth audiences.
In her former role as Extension 4-H Specialist, she managed and facilitated statewide citizenship, community service, and educational enrichment programs for youth. Previous professional positions with nonprofit organizations involved planning and implementing educational and career development programs for underrepresented populations. In addition, she has more than 15 years of service in various administrative positions in continuing education and undergraduate advising at the University of Pennsylvania, University of Tennessee, Knoxville and the University of Georgia.
Ms. Garris Miller is a member of American Association of University Women and the National Association for Female Executives. She is an alumna of North Carolina Central University. Active in the Athens community, she served two terms as a board member and officer of the Mental Health Association of Northeast Georgia. In addition, Ms. Garris Miller is a graduate of L.E.A.D. Athens and served on the Steering and Selection Committees.
