Emily Davis

Biography
Mrs. Davis is a Program Coordinator II and provides program support for community based educational programs and city planning facilitation in Georgia and across the nation. She also works with public service faculty to develop educational materials and manage the assessment process. Her main focus is supporting adult community leadership programs in and out of the state; planning and local government administration; economic development and SERDI (Southeastern Regional Directors Institute). Emily coordinates the administration of the Georgia Rural Development Council’s Community Leadership Initiative (GRDC CLI). The Fanning Institute administers start-up grants and enhancement grants to counties all over the state of Georgia for adult leadership programs and maintains the data base of grant programs and county contacts. Emily serves as liaison with client groups as well as on-site coordinator for programs. Emily Davis joined the team at the Fanning Institute in January of 2003. Emily has more than nineteen years of managerial experience on and off the University of Georgia campus. Prior to joining Fanning, Emily was the Administrative Specialist and Assistant to the Director of the Carl Vinson Institute of Government. Her positions on the University campus encompass working as Administrative Specialist to the Director of the Center for International Governance, CVIOG, the Recruiting Secretary for the Football Office, Secretary to Loran Smith and the Bulldog Clubs, and Managing Editor of the seasonal Football Program Publication. Working experience unrelated to the academic world include nine years working in a medical practice as a Systems Administrator. Born and raised in Smyrna, Georgia, she has made Athens home for thirty eight years. She attended Truett McConnell College in Cleveland, Georgia.
